padCimicifuga simplex 'Brunette'

Cimicifugas are wonderful plants for late-season bloom in the shade garden. ‘Brunette’ has an incredibly fragrant blushing white bottlebrush bloom, rising 3 or 4 feet above the 12- to 18-inch-tall, cut-leaf burgundy foliage. The fresh floral fragrance perfumes the air in September, and the dried seed spikes are very ornamental in the winter garden. ‘Brunette,’ as its name implies, was selected for its beautiful deep purple-brown foliage and will prosper in full-shade to full-sun positions (with adequate moisture). The foliage may be darker with more light. Looks great planted with Japanese painted ferns, variegated hostas and pink astrantias. Zone 4.
