padAgastache 'Black Adder' (Anise Hyssop)

Make room in your butterfly garden for this new anise hyssop! ‘Black Adder’ is a showy cross between Agastache rugosum and A. foeniculum that blooms from mid-summer until frost. The smoky violet-blue flowers and dark purple buds are held on long spikes over mid-green foliage. More compact than ‘Blue Fortune,’ it grows 2 ˝ -3 feet tall in full sun. The flowers are an excellent nectar source, attracting bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. And goldfinches love the seeds! Foliage smells like black licorice when crushed. Beautiful with all the yellow and pink daisies of summer. Good drainage is important, as it does not tolerate wet soil, especially in winter. Resistant to deer and rabbits. Zone 6.
