This outstanding native shrub lights up the woodland edge, but is equally at home in full sun or the high shade of mature trees. If you appreciate the foliage and flowers of a horsechestnut tree, but hate the summer leaf scorch, this is the buckeye for you! Foliage stays clean and healthy through the summer. Bottlebrush buckeye blooms early to mid-summer with 6- to 24-inch creamy white panicles that are attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies. Fall color is golden-yellow to yellowgreen. Bottlebrush buckeye grows 8-12 feet tall. Its slow suckering growth habit makes for a spread of 8-15 feet or greater. Best in evenly moist, well-drained, slightly acid soil with a high organic matter content, but somewhat adaptable as long as drainage is good. Superb choice for an informal woodland garden. Zone 4.
3 gallon.
