padAconitum carmichaelii 'Cloudy'

One of the most floriferous and longest-blooming monkshoods, ‘Cloudy’ produces its large bicolor blooms from late summer well into fall. ‘Cloudy’ has large white, hooded blooms painted with strong brushstrokes of blue at the base and tips of each petal, creating an effect that really does resemble clouds scuttling across the sky. They crowd along slender but very sturdy stems that point straight up, crowning the dark green foliage with bold flags of white and azure. In bloom, this plant reaches a compact and well-branched 18-24 inches high. These flowers are suitable for cutting (use gloves, as all parts of the plant are poisonous), and hold up well in the garden. ‘Cloudy’ is quite long-lived and deer resistant. Best in evenly moist, well-drained soils high in organic matter. Zone 4.
